Mavericks Community Foundation is a critical partner working to support local nonprofits from Montara to Pescadero California. Since 2015, they have organized a community giving day, Coastside Gives, and have raised over 1.8 million dollars with this annual event. In the context of the COVID-19 public health crisis, they have adapted their operations to continue their local giving efforts.
In this episode, SVCF Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships, Mauricio Palma, learns from Mary Oldham, trustee of the Mavericks Community Foundation, and Keith Terry, fundraising consultant and recently retiree from Coastside Hope, a nonprofit organization based in Halfmoon Bay, California. The three discuss how the current public health protocols are impacting Mavericks Community Foundation and its fundraising events, trends in needs from other nonprofits and how these groups are utilizing their strengths to adapt to our current realities in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In SVCF’s Philanthropy Now podcast series, we explore trends in the world of philanthropy, social impact initiatives in Silicon Valley and beyond, and we look at how SVCF promotes innovative philanthropic solutions to challenging problems.
